John's family was determined from many sources.

John is the son of Daniel Fox and Margaret Bearss Fox. Neither Daniel nor Margaret have known death dates, burial locations or FG memorials. John's father Daniel is born approximately 1771-1775 (1810 - 1840 U.S. censuses) in New York (1880 U.S. censuses for his children Abraham/Abram and Nancy Fox Chapel Spencer). John's mother Margaret is born about 1784 (1810 - 1880 U.S. censuses) in Montgomery County, NY (1865 NY census). John's father Daniel is hypothesized to have died between 1840 and 1850 because Daniel is absent from the household in 1850. John's mother Margaret is last seen in the 1865 NY census.

Daniel and Margaret's known children (based on several sources):
1) Unknown Daughter 1 - born bet. 1800–1810 per the 1810 US census; she is not in the household in 1820 - has she wed or died?
2) Unknown Daughter 2 - born bet. 1800–1810 per the 1810 US census; she is not in the household in 1820 - has she wed or died?
3) David - born abt 1804 in Montgomery County, NY; never appears to marry; last seen by me in the 1880 U.S. census as a single man, age 76, living in the Oneida County poorhouse with his single brother Jackson
4) Abraham "Abram" - born abt 1806 in New York. Abraham marries Harriet Allen (1817-1878; daughter of Stephen Allen; sister of Mary Allen Fox Cross, John's wife). Abraham and Harriet had five known children. Abraham marries widow Clarissa C. Bushnell (Mrs. Phillip) Coonrad-Conrad after the 1880 U.S. census; and dies 26 Apr 1888 in Lee, Oneida, NY.
6) John (1810-1855; subject of this memorial)
7) Unknown Daughter 3 - born bet. 1811–1815 per the 1820 through the 1840 US censuses; Daniel and Margaret have a granddaughter named Margaret A. Fox who is possibly born of this unknown daughter #3 as they are in the Daniel Fox household together in 1840 though not in 1850 or thereafter. Margaret A. Fox is born about 1834 in NY and marries a Mr. Dowle/Dowler/Dowley/Dawley between the 1850 and 1860 U.S. censuses but is never seen in a census with him. This married?/widowed? granddaughter Margaret is last seen by me in the 1875 NY census living with the family of her Aunt Nancy Fox Chapel Spencer.
8) Nancy - born Jun 1816 in Onondaga County, NY (1865 NY census); marries Stephen Chapel/Chaple/Chappell/Chapple (born ~1815; last seen 1850 US census). Nancy and Stephen have four known children between ~1843 and ~1851. Widow? Nancy Fox Chapel marries Ezra Spencer (born ~1817; last seen in 1870 U.S. census) between the 1860 and 1870 U.S. censuses. Nancy dies on 12 Sep 1903 in Rome, Oneida, NY. It is nancy's obituary which was a key component of tying the family of Daniel and Margaret Bearss Fox together!
9) Andrew Jackson "Jackson" - born abt. 1823 in Oneida County, NY. Never appears to marry. The 1865 NY census suggests that he served in the military but I have not been able to corroborate this. Last seen by me in the 1880 U.S. census as a single man, age 59, living in the Oneida County poorhouse with his single brother David.

John's wife is Mary Allen...
...her info is here because Mary has no known burial location or FG memorial. Though she is possibly buried near him in Hall Cemetery, there is no gravestone or marker or known records showing this information.

John and Mary marry, likely before the birth of their first known son, Charles in 1837. Mary is the daughter of Stephen Allen (~1789-1873; unknown burial location; no known memorial) who was a founding father of Lee, NY. Mary's mother is possibly Mary Eleanor "Ellen" Kenyon (born 1792; not in husband's home in 1870 census; supposedly daughter of Wells Kenyon & Elisabeth Stillman Kenyon; unknown death date and burial location) but a family history for Mary's sister Sarah Allen Byam gives some doubt to this information. Mary is born in Lee between 1815 & 1818.

Mary's siblings - The 1820 & 1830 US census & other sources show her siblings to be:
*a sister Sarah "Sally" (1814-1873); married Alonzo Byam
*a sister Harriet (1817-1878 FG#12836340; wife of Abraham Fox (brother of Mary's husband John)
*a brother William Allen (1823-1909; FG# 12957936); married Melinda Tharratt
*a brother George C. (1826-1862); married Eliza Loretta Lyman
*a brother Andrew Allen (~1830-~1919; no known memorial) who married Julia Rogers

Mary Allen Fox Cross dies 04 Aug 1890 in Lee Center, Oneida, NY in the home of her grandson, Eugene Fox (son of Charles and Lany Pelton Fox).

John & Mary have several known children:
*Charles (1837-1927; married Lany Ann Pelton; 10 known children
*Norton (1838-1989); who married Martha N. Fox (supposedly not related); 6 known children
*Henry (1842-1914) who married Adelia "Delia/Bridget" Garvin; 4 known children
*Cornelia (1843-1890) who married James Harrison Rogers (brother of Julia Rogers Allen); 7 known children; Cornelia dies three months before her mother Mary.
*George Dudley (1845-1921) who married Maria(h) Olcott; 8 known children
*Marshall (born 1847 but not in home in 1850)
*Albert (1849-1915) who married Mary Etta Fox (sister of Martha N. Fox Fox; supposedly not related); 5 known children
*Edson John (~1850-1930) who married Sarah Jane Marchand; 1 known child

John is living in Lee as early as 1840 with Mary and their two children; and is still living in Lee in 1850. He is a farmer. In the 1860 US census, the widow Mary Allen Fox appears to have been married to a Mr. Cross (evidenced in several censuses) after April 1855 (when John dies) but Mr. Cross is never seen in a census with her. Mary passes away in the home of one of her grandsons, Eugene Fox, in Point Rock. It appears she lived her entire life in Oneida County. Many of the gravestones bearing the name "Fox" in Oneida County are the final resting places of John and Mary Fox's descendants.
