PICTOU - Sandra Janet Horne-Munsie, 64, Pictou, passed away peacefully at home in the evening of February 13th, 2007. Born in Pictou, Janet was the daughter of the late Nathan and Cassie (Clark) MacPhail. Janet, "Ninner", had a special gift with children and will always be remembered for her love of the little ones. As a young woman, Janet worked in Connecticut as a Nanny. She returned home to Pictou where she worked at the IGA and Edward Mortimer Place. She later married her first husband, George Horne (RCAF). As a military family, they lived in Ottawa, Germany, and Cold Lake, Alberta. Janet and her family returned to Pictou in the 1970's where she enjoyed the company and support of her family and friends. A hot cup of tea and a good Leafs game were among Janet's favourite things. She was a faithful member of St. James Anglican Church in Pictou. Janet's warmth, sense of humour and kind nature will be dearly missed by her family and all who knew her. Janet is survived by her beloved children, Lori (James) Horne-Mikeska and their children, Shawn, Randy and Natalie, Buda, Texas; Dean (Colleen Hogg), Pictou; Chris (Gail) Horne, and their children, Jami and Cassie, Windsor; brothers: Roy MacPhail (Ann), Pictou; Ross MacPhail (Pat), Winnipeg; Jeff MacPhail (Alice), Moncton; Harvey MacPhail (Barb) Lyons Brook; sisters: Joan MacPhail, Pictou; Eleanor (John) Cameron, Pictou; Annabelle Munro, Pictou. As well, Janet is survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews all of whom she cherished. She was predeceased by her first husband, George Horne (1978), and second husband, Alan Munsie (1990); brothers, Sydney, Walter; and sister, Patsy. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Friday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Memorial service will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, February 17, from St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, with Rev. Bill White and Rev. JinWoo Kim officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
