Born August 19, 1918 in Murray, Utah, to Richard Royce and Leona Belle Leak Gilbert. Married Donna Huff in Midvale, Utah, August 15, 1941. Grant loved fishing and sports, both as a spectator and participant. He was employed by the Salt Lake County Sheriff's Office for 25 years and a member of the Midvale Volunteer Fire Department for 40 years. He was also a businessman for many years, operating a gas station and grocery store. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy and was a Charter member of The Breakfast Club. Grant was an active member of the LDS Church.
Survivors: wife, Donna, Midvale; children, Jon and wife, Inge, Castle Dale, Utah; Danny and wife, Billie Louise, Midvale; Rita and husband, Jon Holloman, Riverton, Utah; 12 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; brother, Richard Ray Gilbert and wife, Norma, Midvale. Preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
Funeral services Thursday April 15, 1993, 11 a.m. in the Midvale 2nd LDS Ward Chapel 97 West 7500 South. Friends may call at Goff Mortuary 8090 So. State Wednesday 6-8 p.m. and Thursday at the church from 9:45-10:45 a.m. Interment, Larkin Sunset Gardens.
