LINDSEY CANNEDY HELD HERE TODAY
Interment Made at the Norris Chapel Cemetery, With Rev. Brooks in charge of Service
Funeral services for George Lindsey Cannedy, 70 years old who died late last evening at a local sanitarium were to be held this afternoon at 3:00 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. S.B. Jackson, who resides northeast of the city.
Dr. Crayton S. Brooks, pastor of the First Christian church is in charge of the services. Burial was to be made at the Norris Chappel Cemetery, northeast of Ardmore. Harvey Brothers had charge of arrangements.
Mr. Cannedy was born in Greenfield, Green County, Illinois, in 1853. When he was eighteen years old he left Greenfield, coming to Denton County, Texas, when that part of Texas was open range country, and engaged in ranch work.
In the later seventies he enlisted in the Frontier Battalion of the Texas Rangers and served under Colonel Baylor for seven years. At that time he was stationed at El Paso. He took part in the last Indian battles at Victoria and Geronimo.
After leaving the Rangers he engaged in the cattle business in Oklahoma and has been living in what was formerly known as the Choctaw Nation for thirty-five years.
Mr. Cannedy is survived by two sons, Roy C. Cannedy, who recently left Ardmore to make his home in Los Angeles, California and Earl Cannedy of Florida. His only daughter, Mrs. S.B. Jackson, resides in this city."
