A lifetime Liebenthal resident, John Schmidt, died Tuesday at a Kearney, Neb., rest home at the age of 82. He and his wife had lived at the home for the past 18 months.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph's Church, Liebenthal. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Hoover-Pittman Funeral Home, LaCrosse, has charge.

A retired farmer, his survivors include his widow, Anna; three sons, Leonard, LaCrosse, Msgr. George Schmidt, Wichita, Leo, Great Bend; six daughters, Miss Isabell Schmidt, Schoenchen, Sr. Mary Bernadette, Wichita, Sr. Ann Mary, Scotts Bluff, Neb., Mrs. Von Isenbart, Kinsley, Mrs. Clem Zeigler, Collyer, Mrs. Joe Dolecheck, Dubuque.
