Gloria McCormick Larkin died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 16th at 90 years of age.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Elton E. Larkin Sr.; parents, Grover McCormick Sr. and Marguerite P. McCormick; sister, Nancy M. Trigg; and brother, Grover N. McCormick Jr.

She attended Rhodes College, was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and graduated from the University of Memphis with a nursing degree when she was in her 50's. She worked for Dr. Richard Miller as a pediatric nurse for 20 years. She traveled extensively worldwide. One of the founding members of St. Louis Catholic Church, she was a member of St. Louis Altar Guild, Memphis Junior League, LeBonheur Women's Club, Our Home and Garden Club, and the Ladies' Sewing Club. She was the best mother and a wonderful role model, raising her six children by herself after the death of her husband at the young age of 42.

She faced many challenges in her life, yet through her faith, was an inspiration to everyone who knew her. She was full of life, always exhibiting lots of energy and enthusiasm for everything she did. She was so proud of all of her family, always saying, "I can't believe you are all mine!"

She is survived by her six children: Elton E. Larkin Jr. (Tina); Dr. Charles N. "Tucker" Larkin (Peggy); Steve N. Larkin (Kathie) of Atlanta; Libba L. Nance (Dwain); Helen Larkin and Jeanne Ayres, and a brother-in-law, Dr. John C. Larkin Jr. She also leaves twelve grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, four nieces and one nephew.

The family wants to especially thank her wonderful caregiver, Jacqueline Smith, for the excellent care given to her the last years of her life.

Visitation will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 19th at Canale Funeral Directors followed by a Funeral Service at 1 p.m.

Private burial will be Tuesday, April 22nd at Calvary Cemetery.
