Arline Lindstrand, 90, of Willmar, MN, passed peacefully away on Friday February 14, 2014, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. A memorial service will be held later this spring. Burial will be at the Augustana Cemetery in Gibbon, MN.

Arline Carolyn Schmidt was born August 29, 1923 in Cornish Twp, Sibley Co, MN, to Henry and Celina (Wirtz) Schmidt. She grew up helping on the family farm and attending country schools in the Sibley Co and West Bend, IA areas. On June 18, 1948 Arline married Burt Lindstrand at Gibbon, where they farmed until 1957. They moved to Comfrey,MN, forming Lindstrand Implement Co, a John Deere dealership, with partners Carroll and Melva Jacobson. In 1963, the partners moved to Willmar, having bought out the dealership owned by Molenaar Brothers. Arline also worked 20 years for Willmar Poultry Co.

Arline was a quiet, kind and devoted mother and grandmother. She loved her home, entertaining family at the lake, gardening, needlework, and crossword puzzles. She was a good cook.

She is mourned by two daughters and their families: daughter Linda Swalin of Spicer, grandson Lafe Swalin (Jolene) of Atwater and their children Janey and Lyti; and daughter Kathie (Richard) Harris of Belgrade and granddaughters Saisha Harris of Minneapolis and Tajie Harris of Charlottesville, VA. Also surviving are siblings Bernadine Messner of Brownton, Mary Thiem of San Marcos, CA, Eldwin (Lois) Schmidt of Winthrop, Viola (Don) Messner of Peoria, IL, Marjorie (Dwane) Bucklin of Hutchinson, Gladys (Burgess) Gruendemann of Hutchinson, Dorothy (Ivan) Alsleben of Silver Lake, and Lyle (Miriam) Schmidt of Hutchinson and siblings-in-law Ruby Schmidt of St. Peter, Mike Abbell of Bethesda, MD, Fran Meuleners of Ft. Washington, PA, Helen (Bill) Neubarth of Winthrop, and Betty Abrahamson of Grand Marais and many nieces and nephews and families.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Burt in 1991; son-in-law Greg Swalin in 2012; siblings and siblings-in-law Arnold Schmidt, Millie Schmidt-Simonton, Joyce Abbell, Darold Thiem, Ray Messner, Margaret Lindstrand, Melva & Carroll Jacobson, Franklin Lindstrand and Bert Meuleners.
