The daughter of General John Bull and Mary Philipps (Phillips). Family accounts state that Anna would never reveal the year of her birth, instead saying she was "as old as my eyes, and a little older than my teeth." However, family records show her born in 1760.
It is said that Anna was responsible for the building of the family home, Spring House, at Hackwood, whose limestone was quarried at that very place.
She was known as a charitable woman who contributed to the education and upbringing of dozens of children.
Sadly, financial trouble forced Anna and her husband to leave their home in their older years.

However, vandalism at the hands of both armies during the Civil War led grandson Edward Jaqueline Davison to purchase plots at Mount Hebron and have the remains moved, along with other members of his family buried there.
