Survivors include son, Daniel Newlin and wife Kandy of Mont Belvieu, Texas; daughter, Alma Byrd of Effingham, Illinois; grandchildren, Jessica Newlin Beaumont and husband Craig and their children Michael and Natalie of Greenup, Illinois; Ryan Newlin and wife Shari and their children John, Tyler, Ashton, Gage, Taylor, Dani and Bentley of Westfield, Illinois; Robert Steven Byrd and wife Helen of Corpus Christi, Texas; Jackie Byrd Candela and husband Kevin of Godfrey, Illinois; Kristi Byrd Cardenas and husband Michael of St. Louis, Missouri; sisters, Dottie Milbourn of Casey, Illinois and Eva Hanners of Casey, Illinois; brother in law, George Newlin and wife Loretta of Decatur, Illinois; sisters in law, Nita Hills of Martinsville, Illinois and Gladys Newlin of Cheyenne, Wyoming and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; daughter, Brenda Lucille Newlin; brother, Virgil O'Dell and sisters, Faye Slane, Ruth Michaels, Opal Breese, Mavis Shobe and Anna Denney.
Lucille grew up in Yale, Illinois and attended school there. She was a 1936 graduate of Newton High School. Lucille worked at the Casey Shoe Factory for many years before attending Lake Land College and obtaining her Real Estate Broker License. She then worked for Robert E. Seed Realty in Casey, Illinois and the area Council on Aging. Lucille was a member of the Loyal Order of the Eastern Star and the Willis Chapel Ladies Aid. She will be fondly remembered for her dedication to her family.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 12, 2014 at the Casey United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dr. Penelope H. Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the Casey Cumberland Cemetery, Casey, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service at the Casey United Methodist Church, 703 N. Route 49, Casey, Illinois.
