William was the son of Theodore and Wilma Keitel and was born at Hansburg, Province of Westphalia, Germany. He came to America with his parents and two brothers when he was a small boy and settled near East St. Louis, IL, where he spent his youth. In the year 1880 he went to Nebraska where he purchased a farm. He married Miss Mary Brinkmeier April 10, 1886. They had three sons and four daughters. The family moved to Capron, OK where they lived for 13 years and in 1917 they moved to Washborn, TX where they lived 4 years then returned to Oklahoma. Sons Theodore and Oscar Keitel of Capron, William Keitel of Wichita, ks; four daughters Pauline Miller of Kiowa, KS, Ella Weigand and Laura Bromert of Hutchinson and Emma Palmer of Alva.
