Alice Jane Bogue Coss, 75, of Vandalia, formerly of Bowling Green died Saturday,April 12, 2014.

She was born Dec. 16, 1938 in Vandalia, the daughter of Robert Allen and Pearl Alice Brookshier Bogue. She married Fred Duane Coss onDec. 1, 1958 in Vandalia.

Survivors include her husband, Fred of Vandalia; two daughters, Lori J. Ulrich and husband, Carl of Bowling Green and Lisa K. Swarnes and husband,John of Philadelphia; one sister, Ruth Ann Landman and husband, Robert of Hannibal; seven grandchildren: Scott Ulrich,Richard Ulrich, Mitch Ulrich, Rachel Swarnes, Isaac Swarnes, Noah Swarnes and Lydia Swarnes. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Alice grew up and attended schools in Vandalia, graduating with the class of 1956 from Vandalia High School. She then attended Hannibal-LaGrange College and received her bachelor of science degree in education fromCulver Stockton University. She received her masters degree in education from Webster University in St. Louis.

She taught for 34 years at the BONCL School in Louisiana, retiring in 1997. Alice became a director at a daycare facility and served as a board member of the Pike County Christian Church. She was an active member of the Elm Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School and was active in WMU and other church activities.

Alice was a member of the Herb Club in Louisiana and enjoyed reading, embroidery, gardening and visiting with friends and family.
