Velma Fowler

Velma Louise Fowler, 72, died Sunday, Aug. 20, 2000, at the North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. She was a resident of Tupelo for the past 29 years. She was a nurse's aide at the North Mississippi Medical Center for 20 years. She was a graduate of Mooreville High School and a member of the Baptist church. She was a Home League lady for 25 years at the Salvation Army, where she attended Bible study. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Jefferson Street Chapel of W.E. Pegues with the Rev. George Allen officiating. Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel McCullough and his wife, Linda, of Shannon, and Dennis McCullough of the home; two sisters, Mary Alice Elmer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mildred Donald of Dorsey; two brothers, James "Sonny" Oxner of the Beech Springs community and Clarence Oxner of Mooreville; four grandchildren, Kevin McCullough and Gidget Nash, both of Shannon, and Dennis McCullough Jr. and Annette McCullough, both of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Nanney.
