"Alta Mae Hamman, 89, went home to be with the Lord on March 1, 2009. Alta was born to Ethnie and Bertha Adams on June 30, 1919 in Gilmer County, W. Virginia. She was a faithful member of East Liberty Nazarene Church and a caregiver to her elderly friends. Her whole life was family. Alta was preceded in death by her husband, Ira 'Pappy' of 45 years and her eleven brothers and sisters. She is survived by her sons... brother, Myron (Emogene) Adams; 16 grandchildren and 29 greatgrandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, TODAY, March 3, 2009 from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, March 4, 2009, beginning at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to service, Reverend Edwin A. Spangler officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Akron Food Bank, 350 Opportunity Parkway, Akron, OH 44307 in memory of Alta."
