Susan Elizabeth Nance, called Susie by family and friends, was born on 15 November 1867, in Humansville, Missouri, when her father, William, was 20 and her mother, (Margaret) Josephine, was 20. She had four brothers and seven sisters. She married firstly Stephen Haaser (1867-1913) on 27 June 1888, in Shoshone County, Idaho, and they had two children: Harry Herman Haaser (1889-1972) and Norma Josephine (Haaser) Smith (1895-1996). She married Omer Pasah Hendershot on 3 October 1919, in Lewiston, Nez Perce County, Idaho. She died on 24 August 1973, in Clarkston, Washington, at the age of 105, and was laid to rest at Normal Hill Cemetery in Lewiston, Idaho.
