Avonell M. Evans, 71, Williamstown, died early Monday morning at Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center, Pottsville. She was born in Muir on June 24, 1934, a daughter of the late John and Ida Mae Ruch James. She was a 1952 graduate of the former Williamstown High School. She retired from JE Morgan Knitting Mill, Williamstown, after 30 years of employment. She was a member of Christ Fellowship Church, Tremont and an active member of TOPS, Schuylkill Haven Chapter #1148. Surviving are her husband, Dean R., to whom she was married 54 years; 1 daughter, Kimberly A. Evans of Williamstown; 2 sons, Robert D. and his wife, Martha of Tower City and Rodney S. of Williamstown; and 1 granddaughter, Coral Evans of Tower City. Funeral Friday at Chapel of the Dimon Funeral Homes, Tower City, Rev. Alfred Roeckel officiating. Burial in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery. [Harrisburg Patriot-News]
