Mr. West was born on Nov. 5, 1924, in Searcy Arkansas, and was a son of Fred L. West and Olive Stracener.
He served in the Army and later worked for Alfred M. Lewis, managing its wholesale grocery store in Casa Grande.
He served for a number of years on the City Council and was mayor. He also was a reserve police officer from 1966 to 1969 and an advocate of city beautification, serving on the city Clean and Beautiful Advisory Board for 10 years.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth W.; a son, Norris West, of Green Valley; a daughter, Mary "Cathy" Turner, of Imperial, CA; two brothers, Harold "Lyn" West, of Rainier, OR, and Larry West, of Vacaville, CA; a sister, Ruth N. Conlin, of Los Banos, CA; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene West.
The service will be held later.
