Child Dies of Lockjaw
Archie, the 10 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Ballard of East Alton, accidentally ran a splinter into his foot ten days ago. The foot became sore but there was no other indication of serious consequences.
Saturday night the child was attacked by lockjaw and died Monday about midnight, after suffering terrible agony.
The funeral will be held tomorrow from the family home, and Rev. C. L. Peterson will conduct the services. Mr. Ballard is section foreman for the C. B. & Q.

Little Archie Ballard, aged about 11 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ballard, died Monday evening at 12 o’clock. Two weeks ago he ran a splinter in his foot. Saturday he took sick and it resulted in lockjaw.
