William Cates, the son of William R. Cates and the former Gertrude Moneymaker, died at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville, Indiana on November 4, 1997. He served as a member of the United States Air Force. Later in life, he became a truck driver with Lewis Bakeries, a locally owned bread bakery. William is survived by three brothers: Robin Dale, Loren Jay, and Alton Ray; two sisters: Shannon Faye Sorter and Elizabeth Charlene Williams. He has 5 sons: John, Christopher, Shawn, Jeremy and Nicholas; one grandchild, Keenen Cates, and a myriad of step-children and step-children.
