OBITUARY :
LEWIS JACOB (JAKE) MOORE, 73, died Saturday morning at his home in Cascade (Washington County) following a long illness.

He worked at the trade of carpenter until about two years ago. He also operated a work-shop at his home where he built, repaired and refurnished furniture.

He was born at Cascade, son of the late John Marshall and Mary Jane (Royer) Moore. He lived his entire life at Cascade.

He often told about his acquaintance with the late Major Walter Reed. As a boy the deceased was employed at Major Reed's summer residence near Cascade. Major Reed discovered the cause of yellow fever which helped prevent the disease. Walter Reed Hospital, Washington is named after him.

When a young man he also worked for a time for the Western Maryland Railway. He also worked with his father in the building business. He was a member of the Germantown Bethel Church of God and the Jr. 0.U.A.M., Pen Mar Council; National Rifle Association and the Waynesboro Rifle Club.

He is survived by wife, Mrs. Debbie (Hamburgh) Moore; children, Mary Ann, at home; Fred L., Highfield; Frank 0., Cascade; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, all Cascade, Sara, Roy, John and Walter Moore; Mrs. Emily Pryor, Cascade; Mrs. Cora Stem, Uniontown, Md.; Mrs. Mary Johnson, Baltimore; Charles, Waynesboro, Route 3.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 at Germantown Bethel Church of God with the Revs. C. M. McGaha and C. H. Corl officiating. Interment will be made in the adjoining cemetery. Friends may call this evening from 7 until 9 at the Grove Funeral Home in Waynesboro and at the church prior to the service.
