Kermit Elmo Dovel 77, of Harrisonburg, died Wednesday at Camelot Nursing Home. He had been ill for 8 months.

Mr. Dovel was born on March 24, 1909, in Rockingham County and was the son of the late Clarence and Anna Belle Foltz Dovel.

He worked for Harrisonburg Telephone Company and Continental Telephone Company for 40 years before retiring in 1971. He was a member of the Pioneer Club of the Telephone Company and Asbury United Methodist Church.

He was also a member of the Izaak Walton League for 3 years. Before World War II, he served as a Lieutenant in the National Guard.

In June 30, 1934, he married the former Nora Miner, who survives.

Also surviving are 2 daughters, Doris Duncan, of Kentucky, and Anna Grace Howie, of New Jersey. 2 brothers, Paul of Lynchburg, and Clarence Jr., of Harrisonburg. 5 grandchildren.

Burial will be in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.
