Velda Smiley Brignac, 75 of Maurepas, LA, passed away at her home on Sunday, December 16, 2012 while surrounded by her loving family.
Velda retired from Maurepas High School as janitorial. Velda was a loving, faithful and honest person who never complained. She fought a strong fight and will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Elga Paul Brignac; her loving daughter,Gail Durant and husband Bradley; her 2 loving sons, Paul Brignac and Cheryl, Kirk Brignac and wife Tammie; former daughter-in-law, Peggy Calder; one sister, Lorraine Millet and husband Cooney; 5 granddaughters, Shannon Vicaro, Tiffany Giluso, and Krystal, Katie, and Ashley Brignac; 3 grandsons,Jacob and Ethan Brignac, and C.J. Calder; 2 great-granddaughters, Hannah Vicaro and Destiny Giluso; great-grandson, Gabriel Blair; special nieces and nephew, Susan, Brenda, and Al; and numerous other nieces and nephews.
Velda is reunited in Heaven with her mother, Ada Pinion Smiley; her father, Ed Smiley; and 2 brothers,James and Edward Smiley.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home in Ponchatoula.
Visitation will continue on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Maurepas Baptist Church from 8:00 am until funeral services begin at 11:00am.
Interment will follow in Maurepas Cemetery.
