In the book "History of Dakota Territory, Volume 4" by George Washington Kingsbury on page 1187 is told his story as a settler of South Dakota.His 160 acre farm was in Section 29 of Split Rock Township, East Sioux Falls, comprising the south half of the northwest quarter (80 ac) and the north half of the southwest quarter of Section 29 (ref 1917 Minnehaha County Atlas). Benedict married Mabel Baggs, daughter of Edward and Mary Baggs of Minnesota, on March 14, 1913. They had two sons, Miles Benedict(1915-1969) and Maurice Manifold who married Leona Wilka.
The name Benedict was passed on through the generations and came from Benedict Meads, father of our Benedict's grandmother Merinda Meads Manifold. Benedict Meads was one of the early businessmen of what would become Stewartstown,PA.
