75 years of age at time of death. A daughter of Hiram and Emily Adkins. Miss Atkins was educated in the county schools, later attending schools in Danbury and Piedmont Springs. She also attended summer school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She had a 46 year teaching career in Danbury, Sandy Ridge, Pine Hall, King, and a private school at the home of Tom Wall near Madison. She was also devoted to her church, and always ready to help with civic affairs of the community. Her funeral was held at Davis Chapel Methodist Church. She was survived by one sister, Miss Susie Adkins, four brothers, William J. Adkins, Edwin M. Adkins, and Henry O. Adkins of Rt.2, Walnut Cove, also James P. Adkins of Kernersville; five nieces and one nephew.
