Christian was the first Cummins immigrant to settle in New Jersey for this line of Cummins in America in 1741.

Christian arrived in Philadelphia aboard The Good Ship Molly from Rotterdam on October 16, 1741. He was permitted ashore on Sunday, October 17, 1741. He settled in Warren County (Sussex Co.) New Jersey. He owned 3 farms for a total of 650 acres in NJ.

His place of death was Asbury, New Jersey. Asbury's name was changed in 1828 to Vienna in honor of the famous city in Austria were Christian is said to be from.

From DAR records stored in Hackettstown, NJ Historical Society Museum, page 31.

"Christeon Cummins and Catherine, his wife, came over to America about 1741. They had no money and were sold for a time to work out their passage. Christeon was a tailor by trade and by working nights, he acquired some money by the time he was free again. This he invested in a farm at Asbury, NJ. . . . . A spring marks the site of the old house of which a few stones only remain in 1890. . . . At any rate he (Christeon) and Catherine did not come in the same ship. Christeon and Catherine came from Palatinate along the Rhine, then a part of Austria.

Christeon was in the army and fled to America to escape service. One night he determined to desert, so he set out early in the night and traveled as far as he could until daybreak. When found, he had traveled in a circle and was in sight of the army camp, he took his place as though nothing had happened and later made good his escape.

All their (10) children were born in America. . . . The boys, Phillip, Christeon, and John settled at Vienna, (Cumminstown), New Jersey."

Note - Their son, Daniel Cummins was born 7 Jun 1753 in Vienna, New Jersey. Died 1 OCt 1827 in Clark County, Kentucky. (This is my Cummins line)
