Graveside services for James Garnett Akin, 97, of Temple will be 10:00am Saturday April12, 2014 at Moody Cemetery in Moody, Texas.
He was born June 28, 1916 in Moody, Texas to Lizzie Morgan and Stanley V. Akin. He passed away April 9, 2014 in Temple.
He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife Martha Shilling Akin, sister, Mary L. Bizzell, daughter, Linda Darlene Akin, and one granddaughter.
Survivors include wife, Tavie Udell Akin of Comanche, daughters Betsy Ruth Brewer of Alabama, Martha Sue Perkins and husband Charles of Temple, and RoseAnn Norman of Oklahoma, stepson Paul McKenzie and wife Sharon,
stepdaughter, Anita Lockett and husband Jody, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Methodist Children's Home in Waco, Odyssey Hospice or the charity of your choice.
Crawford-Bowers Funeral Home in Temple is in charge of the arrangements.
