Died at his house in Storm Lake, on December 2, 1887, of Typhoid pneumonia, Thomas Sturgeon after an illness of five days. Deceased was a native of England, was born in the county of Suffolk, Dec. 31, 1822. In 1843, he came to America residing in the state of New York for a period of twelve years. In 1855, he was married to Harriett Pruyn Ball and came in October of that same year to Iowa. Settled in the town of Winterset in Madison County where he lived until 1870 when he was removed with his family to Buena Vista County. Was one of the oldest settlers in Maple Valley Township. In 1883, he became a resident of Storm Lake where he lived up to the time of his death. He leaves a wife and two daughters to mourn his loss. The Alta Advertiser, Dec. 8, 1887. KW
