U.S. Veteran Clayton Tackett age 83 of Twin Lick Road, Salyersville, Kentucky passed away Monday, April 7, 2014 at his home. He was born January 24, 1931 in Magoffin County, Kentucky to the late Lenzie and Wonnie Howard Tackett. Survivors include his wife Mearlene Tackett, two sons C.J. Tackett and David Tackett, one daughter Donna Tackett Ward, two brothers Harold Tackett and Timothy Tackett, three sisters Stella Tackett, Virginia Ruth Tackett and Garnett Sue Gullett, four grandchildren Ricky Tackett, Andrea Preston, Brent Tackett and Lea Ann Chapman and five great grandchildren Jason Tackett, Avery Preston, Lane Tackett, Luke Tackett and Brody Chapman.
Besides his parents Clayton is preceded in death by one daughter Judy Tackett and two brothers Lenzie (Blackie) Tackett, Jr. and Ray Tackett.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 am Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from the Magoffin County Funeral Home Chapel with John Blanton, Buster Blanton and Carl Howard officiating. Burial will follow in the Tackett Cemetery at Twin Lick, Kentucky. Friends may call the funeral home after 5 pm Tuesday, April 8, 2014 and anytime Wednesday prior to funeral services.
There will be military rites given by the Salyersville D.A.V. Chapter 15 the day of services.
