She was a native of Gaston County, N.C., daughter of the late Thomas G. and Zethel Carpenter Stacy.

Mrs. Parrish was a retired statistician for the US Government in Washington, D.C., for over 30 years before retiring to Charleston and was of the Methodist faith.
