Daniel W. James, 60, of Murray, died at a local hospital Friday of pneumonia. He had been ill for two weeks. He was born in La Porte, Cal., October 14, 1870, and had been a resident of Utah since he was 7 years old.

As a youth he lived in West Jordan and Frisco, Utah. He was employed first by the Horn Silver Mining company and in 1910 moved to Murray, where for the last twenty years he had been employed by the American Smelting and Refining company.

Besides his widow, Mrs. Gertrude H. James of Murray, state president of the Rebekah assembly, he is survived by the following children: Powell James of Salt Lake, Mrs. P.G. Bartelio of Portland, Ore., and Miss Chrystal James of Murray, and the following brothers and sisters: David James, Harry James, Mrs. Phillip Bentz and Miss Clair James, and his mother, Mrs. Ann James, all of Salt Lake. Funeral services, conducted by the I.O.O.F., will be held at 11 a.m. Sunday in Fraternal hall, Murray.
