Ellerslie, MD - Frank B. Clark, 89, of Ellerslie, MD, passed away Monday, April 7, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 9, 1924, in Bedford, PA, Mr. Clark was the son of the late James William Clark and Minnie Mae (Lawrence) Clark.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters: Jean Heaton, Dorothy Vital, and Jessie Skurcenski; and three brothers: John, Robert, and Joseph Clark.
Frank was a graduate at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Pharmacy.
He was a United States Army Veteran of World War II as a medic and was a retired pharmacist having worked at many pharmacies in the area.
Frank was currently serving as President of the Ellerslie Volunteer Fire Department. He was a long-time member of the community and serving it as past President of the Allegany/Garrett County Firemen's Association. Frank was a member of the Ellerslie United Methodist Church having served as Sunday School Teacher and Secretary of the Administration Board. He served as past Treasurer of the Citizen's Committee of Ellerslie. Frank was a member of the Masonic Temple State Columbia Lodge #150 of LaPlata, MD; the Forrest #159 Tall Cedars; the Valley of Pittsburgh Scottish Rite; and past President of the Mason Dixon Lions Club. Frank is survived by his wife of 62 years: Norma J. (Betts) Clark; his son: Joseph B. Clark and wife, Terri, Cresaptown, MD; and his daughters: Joyce Buskirk and husband, Mark, Salisbury, NC; Debra Shaffer and husband, Ronald, Ridgeley, WV; Susan Clark-Cecil and husband, Larry, Cresaptown, MD; and Shirley Snurr and husband, Gordi, Fort Ashby, WV. He is also survived by his brothers: Edward Clark and wife, Margie, Bedford, PA; and Maynard Clark, Apollo Beach, FL; and a sister: Mary Ronco, Miami, FL. Frank also leaves behind his grandchildren: JoAnn Clark and Dalyn Sites; Danny Dicken and wife, Erin; David Clark; Justin Bittner and wife, Stacy; Heather Hite; Zachary Buskirk; Chelsea Buskirk; Stacy Cecil; Branden Cecil and wife, Chiani; Gordon Snurr, III and Jenn Malone; and J.D. Snurr; as well as seven great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Adams Family Funeral Home, P.A., 404 Decatur Street, Cumberland, MD, on Thursday, April 10, 2014, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and from 7:00 P.M., to 9:00 P.M. The Queen City Lodge #131 A.F.&A.M. will conduct a service at 7:00 P.M.
A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Friday, April 11, 2014, at 11:00 A.M., with Reverend Ted Marsh officiating.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be accorded at the cemetery by the Post #13 Veterans Honor Guard.
