Perry Williams, 89, of El Dorado, died Saturday, April 5, 2014, at the Medical Center of South Arkansas.

Born on Feb. 9, 1925, in Strong, he was the son of Benjamin P. and Ora Odessa Russell Williams. Perry served in the U.S. Army in WWII and spent nine months in a POW camp after being captured by German Forces. He was also a veteran of more than 20 years with the El Dorado Fire Department, retiring as assistant chief. An avid Razorback football fan, he was a member of the Arkansas Razorback Football Club and held season tickets for over 30 years. Perry enjoyed reading and studying the Bible and teaching Sunday School at Southside Baptist Church, where he was the longest serving deacon. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Ruth L. Goodwin, Reba Gammill and Wilma Pine; brothers, Charles Williams and Jimmy Williams; and son, David ‘Randy' Williams.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Nelson Williams; son, Mark Williams of El Dorado; daughter, Barbara McGaugh (Mark) of Bentonville; brother, Edwin Williams (Inez) of Benton; along with grandchildren, Abby Nicole Williams, Jennifer McGaugh, and Amanda Jones (Caleb); and great-grandchildren, Aidan and Noah Jones.

The family will receive friends at Young's Funeral Directors from 6 until 8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, at Young's Chapel with the Rev. Terry Harrison officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors.
