From the 14 Nov. 1890 Van Wert, Ohio, Times: "Charles A. Moebus died very unexpectedly last Friday evening, of dropsy, at the home of his mother on West Main street, aged 20 years and 3 months. Charlie was a good, quiet boy who had the friendship of all his associates. Both his hands were strangely deformed from birth, each having an almost perfectly formed fifth finger, a physical peculiarity by which everybody knew him. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the house, conducted by Revs. Boltz and Fitzwater, after which the remains were conveyed to Woodland Cemetery and laid at rest."
