Born in Somerville, she spent all of her married life in Griggstown. She was a Deacon and Elder at the Griggstown Reformed Church and also taught Sunday school for many years. Mrs. Smith was honored in 2003 with the New Brunswick Theological Seminary for serving on the Women's Auxiliary. She retired with many years of service as a dental assistant with Dr. William Lawton of Somerville.
Wife of the late Melville Smith, she is survived by three sisters Grace Terhune of Blawenburg, Virginia Allen of Freehold, and Barbara Roe of Neptune. She is also survived by four nieces and a nephew, Nancy Landuyt, Margaret Querec, Lois Roe, Thomas Roe,and Carol Hope, and many great nieces and nephews.
