Those left to honor Thelma's memory are her 2 sons, William Lester Fisher, Jr. of Newton and Ronald Lee Fisher of Newton; her daughter, Darlene Mae (Jack) Illingworth of Newton; 13 grandchildren, Shane, Angela, Heather, Shilo, Amber, Brody, Jonathan, Jamie, Micahel, Jessy, Stacey, Rocky, and Casey; her 18 great-grandchildren; brother, Lloyd Keith (Donna) Grovenburg of Oakland Acres; her sister, Shirley Lillie of Montezuma; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis William and Ola Belle (Conger) Grovenburg; son, Steven Fisher; her 2 sisters, Mildred Vulsteke and Helen Strand; and 3 brothers, Ernest, Dennis, and Kenneth Grovenburg.
Thelma graduated from Grinnell High School in 1950. She was a production worker at the Maytag Company for 19 years, retiring in 1992.
She was a member of the Local UAW 997. She enjoyed crocheting, flower gardening, and her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
