Joe Alan Hudspeth
Tupelo - Alan Hudspeth, 51, went to be with the Lord April 4, 2014, at North Mississippi Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in New Albany on November 23, 1962, to Leslie and Cornell Hudspeth. Alan was raised in Ashland and was a graduate of Mississippi State University and worked over 25 years with the USDA, most recently as a GS9 Soil Specialist.

Alan met the love of his life, Deborah Epting, on a blind date in 1992. They were married on November 5, 1994, at First Baptist Church in Tupelo which became their church home. Alan loved the Lord and served him faithfully as Sunday school teacher, deacon, youth leader, through the audio/video ministry, and numerous local and national missions. He was a behind the scenes person yet many times played the most important part in serving his Savior. Alan's humble, quiet spirit endeared him to those who knew him.

His greatest joy was doing things with his sons, Connor and Joel, especially attending MSU sporting events. He enjoyed anything related to MSU and spending time with his family.

Services will be Monday, April 7, 2014 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church Tupelo with Dr. Chad Grayson and Rev. Ricky Young officiating. Burial will follow at the Glenfield Cemetery in New Albany.

Survivors include his wife, Deborah; his sons, Connor and Joel; his in-laws, Rev. Joe and Christine Epting; sister-in-law, Sherri Hudspeth; an Aunt, Lottie Mae Snowden; and nieces Liza and Leslie Hudspeth.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Glenn Hudspeth.

Pallbearers will be Hugh Holcomb, Chaz Kirby, Alan Brown, Rickey Reynolds, Glenn Wilson, and Allen Gregory. Honorary pallbearers will be the FBC Youth Department and the Deacons.

Visitation will be Sunday, April 6, 2014, from 5-8 pm at First Baptist Church Tupelo and Monday, April 7 from 11:30 am until service time in the Grand Hall at the church.
