Sarah Ellen Cotterman Brown "was the daughter of John and Christina Cotterman. When but a small child of six years her father passed away and she was adopted by her uncle and aunt, Mr. an Mrs. David Rodkey, where she continued to make her home till her marriage to Jacob Brown on March 15, 1876.
...A short time after her marriage she united with the Church of the Brethren, and in 1921 she transferred her membership to the Frist Brethren church of Bryan and has been a consistent and faithful member till the time of her death...She was known as a kind, loving neighbor, friend and mother, and will be missed by a large number who knew and loved her..." Her obituary appeared in The Bryan Democrat, 30 June 1932 p9 c5-6.
Her children were: Charles (1877- ????), Lucretia (1880-????), David (1882-????), Sophia (1884-????), Guy Russell (1886-????), Olive (1888-????), and Alfred (1890-????).
