Rufena A. Schaefer, age 81, of 119 S. Glenview Ave., Brillion, passed away peacefully to be with her Lord on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2004 at Manor Care East in Green Bay.
She was born on March 20, 1923 in Reedsville, daughter of the late William and Lena (Bubol) Olp. She married Lester Schaefer on Nov. 21, 1942 at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. Rufena worked in the office at Larson Canning Co. in Brillion for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville and served on the Finance Committee.
Survivors include two sisters: Marcella Spatchek of Reedsville; Vi Devereax of Green Bay; many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband: Lester on April 26, 1989; her in-laws: Otto and Bertha Schaefer; two brothers: Reuben Olp and Clarmont (sic) Olp; three brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law: Harvey Matznick, Elroy Spatchek, Carl Devereux and Bette Olp; two nephews: A.J. Doudna and Scott Kiel.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, Aug. 16, 2004 at 2 p.m. at St. John St. James Lutheran Church in Reedsville. The Rev. Timothy L. Nommensen will officiate. Burial will be in the West Side Cemetery in Reedsville.
Friends may call at the church on Monday from noon until the time of service.
The Wieting Funeral Home in Brillion is assisting the family with arrangements.
