US Congressman. Born in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, he attended Washington College, studied law in Pittsburgh was admitted to the bar and practiced law in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. He was also an editor-publisher of the Pittsburgh Union and Legal Journal. In 1855, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-fourth Congress serving until 1857. After his term, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 66 in Freeport, Pennsylvania.
