MECHANICSBURG - John W. Thomas Sr., 74, of 2326 Bumble Bee Hollow Road, died at 12:30 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Spirit Hospital, Camp Hill. He was the husband of Betty J. (Westfall) Thomas.
The service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, 450 Chestnut Grove Road, Dillsburg. Burial will be in Dillsburg Cemetery. Viewings will be 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Cocklin Funeral Home, 30 N. Chestnut St., Dillsburg, and 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mr. Thomas was born in Warrington Township, York County. He was the son of the late George W. and Lucy (Brough) Thomas.
He was a retired forklift driver for D. and H. Distributing Co., Harrisburg. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
A member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, he belonged to Dillsburg Area Full Gospel Business Mens League.
Mr. Thomas also is survived by three sons, Loring L. Thomas of Mechanicsburg, John W. Thomas Jr. of Dillsburg, and David L. Thomas of New Cumberland; three daughters, Mary J. Myers of Biglerville, Ruth A. Shumaker of Dillsburg, and Marie T. Brunner of Mechanicsburg; a stepson, Vance E. Wolfe of Harrisburg; a stepdaughter, Vickie Finney of Millersburg; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; a great-grandchild, a brother, Adam W. Thomas of Camp Hill; two sisters, Minnie Taylor of Lewisberry, and Nellie M. Zinn of Stewartsville, N.J.
Officiating at the service will be his pastor, the Rev. Jack Rider.

He was retired from D&H Distributing Co. as a forklift driver; an Army veteran of World War II; and a member of Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church and the Dillsburg Area Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship.
