Joe Ray Thompson, 85, was born August 4, 1928, or so his mom told him. Ever the faithful man, he went to meet his Lord on April 3, 2014. Joe was born to Charlie and Maybell Thompson in Wynnewood, Okla., the youngest of 10 children.

He graduated from Central High School in 1946. He swept Annabelle (Harper) off her feet in 1947, and they had 67 happy years together. Though a self-made man who worked hard, family was always his priority. He enjoyed fast cars, the joy of making a great deal, a good joke, and of course spoiling his grandchildren rotten.

Joe's loved ones include his wife, Annabelle; son, Philip Thompson and wife Nancy; daughter Barbara Price and husband Jeff; five grandchildren, Casey Fletcher and husband Steve, Sydney Price, Mandy Nespeca and husband Vaughn, Beau Price, and Cole Thompson; and three great-grandchildren, Zoey Nespeca, Collier Nespeca, and Evelyn Fletcher.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Monday April 7, at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family wishes donations be made to "Contact Kids, Teach the Children", 1529 W. 49th St., Tulsa, OK 74107. A viewing will be 8 a.m. - 8 p.m. Sunday, April 6. Services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home, Edmond.
