Ruth was born in rural North Dakota when her father was working for the railroad as an engineer. When she was just a little girl, her father moved the family to Dome Creek, British Columbia, and that's where she grew up -- as the daughter of a trapper, hunter, and big game guide, living in an area surrounded by forests that were filled with moose, grizzly bear, and other wildlife, next to the Fraser River in central British Columbia. Ruth had an older brother (Lawrence), five younger brothers (George, Glen, K.W., Clifford, and "Catsy"), and two younger sisters (Marion and Betty). When she was 18, Ruth married Wentworth Stephen GANTON; Wentworth was 24. They married on February 5, 1932, in Ruth's hometown of Dome Creek. In 1935, the couple was living in Aleza Lake, British Columbia, by rail about 50 miles northwest of Dome Creek. Ruth and Wentworth had four daughters: Joyce Maureen, Fay L., Gwendolyn Joan, and Sharon Ruth. By 1940, Ruth was living in Sinclair Mills (as found by a newspaper story telling about her young daughters in school in Sinclair Mills). In 1942, Ruth birthed a son, conceived with a man who had grown up in Sinclair Mills and whose family lived in Sinclair Mills. In 1949, Ruth's oldest child, a daughter, died in an accident at the age of 16. In January 1955, Ruth entered the USA with the intent of permanently living in the USA. Her brother Lawrence had moved to Los Angeles in 1941, and that is where Ruth settled. On August 26, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nevada, she married William Ernest WRIGHT. Her petition for USA citizenship was granted on January 11, 1963. On June 9, 1975, she married Richard Allen HARDIN; he died ten weeks later. In Los Angeles, Ruth worked as a key punch operator. She was 5 feet and 3 inches tall, weighed 128 pounds, and had brown hair, brown eyes, and a fair complexion.
