MADRID - Rev. Clyde Eugene Brueland, 80, passed from this life on Saturday, January 21, 2012, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Throughout his life, Clyde was a very generous and giving person. In agreement with his utmost desire and wishes, his body was gifted to the Body Donor Program at Des Moines University for anatomical and surgical studies. A private memorial graveside service will be held at a later date in Callender, IA.

Clyde was born on May 31, 1931, in Somers, IA. He graduated from Waldorf College, Forest City, IA; Concordia College, Moorhead, MN; and Luther Seminary, St. Paul, MN. He was married to Norva Ann Hanson in Callender, IA on August 20, 1955. Clyde served parishes in Williston, ND, Huxley and Cambridge, IA, Minot, ND, and Hoyt Lakes, MN before joining the ALC and ELCA district offices.

Survivors include his four children, Greg (Leslie) Brueland of San Antonio, TX, Joel (Shell) Brueland of Great Falls, MT, Maren Pechacek of Fargo, ND, and Brent (Rita) Brueland of Boone, IA; sister, Verna Joyce Klatt of Verndale, MN; and 17 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

The family has requested that any memorial contributions may be donated in Clyde's name to the Israel Family Hospice House in Ames, IA.
