Suggested edit: Park City Daily News 2 January 1940 - MRS HINES DIES FOLLOWING FALL - Wife Of Former Local Resident Dies in Connecticut - Mrs. Alice Mc Farlane Hines, shoes husband, the late Walker D Hines, was a native of Bowling Green, was fatally injured last night in a fall down a flight of stairs at her home at Darien, Conn. According to a message received here this morning by Mrs. Sam D. Hines, 1218 State street, the victim fell about 5 o'clock as she was preparing to go to a theatre. She died about an hour later. She was about 60 years old. Funeral serviced are set for 11 o'clock Thursday morning at the residence with burial following in a cemetery in Darien. Mrs. Hines died, about three years ago in Italy after going to that country because of poor health, and at his own request, was buried in Italy. He was a cousin of Mrs. john B Hines, Mr. and Mrs. Scott, Henry Hines, Mrs. Sam D Hines, and Mrs. Bland Fartworth, all of Bowling Green. He was born in Bowling Green February 2 1870, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jimmie M Hines, attended old Ogden College here, studied law in the office of Mitchell and Dubose, was secretary to the president and later was first vice president of L & N railroad in Louisville, and from January 19 1919 to February 29 1920 he was director general of the railroads in the United States during the government wartime control of the roads. He married Miss Alice Caymer Mc Farlane, daughter of Graham Mc Farlane on October 24 1900 in Louisville. Mrs. Hines is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Paul Pison and sister Miss. Helen Mc Farlane, both of New York City.
