FLAT ROCK, IN – Betty Roberta Lee, 79, passed away at 8:55 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at her home in Flat Rock, Indiana, where she and her husband, Jack had spent building over the years. She was born in Spencer, IN to the late Evell E. Neely and the late Molly Emma (Keith) Neely. Betty graduated from Howe High School in 1953. She married Jack Marion Lee on February 14, 1953 at Tuxedo Park Baptist Church in Indianapolis. He precedes her in death on January 11, 2011. Betty retired from Warren Township High School in 1993, where she worked in food service. She was a Bookkeeper for many years for Honeycutt Construction and wrote many articles for the Speedrome in Indianapolis, where her husband Jack Lee and son Duane Lee were well known racers to many of the local fans. She moved to Flat Rock in 1993 from Indianapolis. She was a member of Crossroad Community Church in Shelbyville. Betty will be sadly missed by her daughter, Karen S. (husband, Danny) Hammer of Flat Rock; son, Duane E. (wife, Mary) Lee of Greenfield; sister, Grace M. Donaldson of Centreville, IL; grandchildren, Jason Smith, Megan Lee, Mallory Lee, Justin (wife, Morgan) Hammer, Jacob (wife, Blair) Hammer, great-grandchildren, Deyton Smith, Alyson Smith, Ashlynn Smith, Colton Jack Hammer; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, daughter, Jackie K Webster, brothers, Glen S. Neely, Wayne E. Neely, sisters, Phyllis I. Hayes, Gladys C. Wells and Imogene Hester. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Crossroad Community Church, 475 East Progress Parkway, Shelbyville, IN with Pastor Andy Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Boggstown, Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 1, 2014 and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Crossroad Community Church. Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 N. High St. Hartford City is in charge of arrangements.
