From the Sturgis Register (newspaper) of November 23, 1887: The wife of ex-Sgt White of K Troop died Monday night with consumption.

Sarah was first married to Private (Farrier) Benjamin J. Wells, of Company G, 7th US Cavalry, who was killed June 25, 1876 at the Battle of the Little Big Horn. The marriage produced a son, Charles W. Wells. Private Benjamin Wells is buried in the mass grave at Last Stand Hill, Little Big Horn Battle Site, Montana. From his death, she received a pension of $10 per month until she married Sergeant Henry Charles White (also written as Weihe) on September 14, 1884 at Fort Meade, South Dakota. This marriage also produced a son, Elmer White, who died November 28, 1886, and is buried at Fort Meade National Cemetery. Sarah Wells White died at Fort Meade on November 21, 1887. Her husband, Henry Charles White, married for a second time, in 1889, to Jennie Torrance Snyder. Jennie is buried in Bear Butte Cemetery, Sturgis, South Dakota. Henry Charles White died October 29, 1906, and is buried in Fort Meade National Cemetery near his first wife.
