On February 20, 1901, he was united in marriage to Mattie Mae Vail. To this union six children were born: Lisle F. McCune, of Kerrick, Tex.; Mrs. Lorene Wilson and George B. McCune of Boise City, and Mrs. Ida Hunziker of Drexel, Mo. Two infant daughters preceded him in death.
They started housekeeping near Drexel, Mo., and in the year of 1907, he, with his family, homesteaded in Cimarron county, near Griggs. In 1935, they moved to Bates county, Mo., where they resided until his death.
He gave his heart to the Lord at an early age, and kept his faith until the end.
He was a kind and affectionate father, loved by grandchildren as well as children and known as "Pop" by all.
He was a good neighbor and highly respected by all who knew him.
He was so patient during his illness and thoughtful of others, that those who cared for him considered it a pleasure.
Besides his widow and children, he leaves to mourn his passing, one sister, Mrs. Lillian McCune Bewley, Excelsior Springs, Mo.; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon, October 6, at the Adrian Methodist Church under the direction of Rev. Sidney J. Kimbell and Rev. Wade H. O'Neil, of Butler, Mo. Burial was at Sharon Cemetery, near Drexel.
