Eugene Goppert

Chester -- Eugene E. Goppert, 50, of Chester RD 1, died Sunday night at the Weirton Medical Center following a short illness. He was born July 29, 1931, in East Liverpool, the son of Gladys Goppert of Chester, and the late William Goppert. A Korean War Army veteran, he retired from the O.S. Hill Co. May 22, 1981. He attended the Virginia Ave. Church of Christ. Mr. Goppert was a member of American Legion Post 121, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6450. In addition to his mother, survivors include his widow, Mrs. Eva Clutter Goppert at home, whom he married Sept. 7, 1955, two sons, Eugene Goppert Jr. of Columbiana, and David Lee Goppert of Chester, a brother, James F. Goppert of Chester, and two granddaughters. Funeral services are to be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. from the Arner Funeral Chapel with Frank Higganbotham, evangelist, officiating. Burial is to be in Locust Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday afternoon and evening.
