Arthur Alexander Phillips was born on 23 Dec 1877 in Park City, Summit Co., Utah to John Campbel Phillips and Elizabeth Ann Hewitson.

By 1910, Arthur had moved to Butte, Silver Bow Co., Montana where he worked in the mines.

1917 found him working as a watchman at the Leonard Mine in Butte, and his WWI Draft records show that he had lost his right arm below the elbow.

On 27 Dec 1937, Arthur died by suicide (gun shot wound) at his brother's home in Monrovia, Los Angeles Co., California. He was buried in the Murray City Cemetery on 3 Jan 1938. The obituary below indicates that his funeral service wasn't until 12 Mar 1938 however.

Arthur was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth, July 1936 and and his father John, February 1937. Two sisters; Mary Elizabeth died in 1880, Leila in 1884, and 2 brothers Robert Wendel who died in 1892 and Clarance in 1898.

"Arthur A. Phillips, 60, a native of Utah and a former resident of Salt Lake City, died of a heart ailment Monday at the home of a brother, Charles Phillips of Monrovia, California. He was born in Park City, a son of John C. and Elizabeth E. Phillips, he moved to Salt Lake City when a young man and had resided here until 25 years ago, when he went to Butte, Montana, where he had since lived. He was a machinist by trade. Mr. Phillips is survived by four brothers, Edward Phillips, Sindey G., Vince L, and Charles Philips, sixteen nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in Salt Lake City on Sunday, March 12th, 1938. Interment took place in the Murray City Cemetery."
