Elizabeth Ann"Betty"Tresnak Slama, 93, of Potter, Nebraska and Golden Living Center, Sidney, Nebraska, entered the gates of heaven on March 26, 2014 at Sidney, Nebraska.Funeral services will be March 29th at Saint Patrick's Catholic Church in Sidney. Wake Services will be held at the Church on Friday, March 28th. Cremation will take place following the service. Inurnment in the Potter Cemetery. Betty was born July 8, 1920 on a farm near North Bend, Nebraska, the youngest of 11 children, to Anton and Anna (Havelka) Tresnak. She moved with her family from North Bend to Omaha when she was around 8 years of age. She graduated from Omaha South High School. She left Omaha at 22 and moved to California to marry Leo Ballegeer, who was stationed at Camp Roberts. Leo passed away during the Battle of the Bulge, Belgium in 1944. A daughter, Nancy Lee, was born to this union.While visiting the Karniks from rural Potter, she met Robert Winton Slama. They married on December 22, 1947. Bob and Betty lived on a farm 13 miles north of Potter and to this union 6 children were born. They moved to the town of Potter in 1963.Betty worked at O. P. Skaggs Grocery Store, Potter School as a cook, and George Risk Industries, Kimball, while raising her seven children. After retirement, Betty was very active with the Potter Senior Citizen's Center.Betty was a long time member of Saint Patrick's Catholic Church. Betty is survived by children Nancy Good of Lakewood, Colorado, Peg and Dick Musil of Potter, Marilyn and Don Sommers of Potter, Dennis and Patty Slama of Potter, Jolene and Jim Webb of Scottsbluff, Jane and Kirk Enevoldsen of Potter, Deb Bohac and special friend Randy Kreft of Denver, Colorado, grandchildren Chris and Julie Good, Thane and Dodi Good, Andrea and Paul Balcer, Tanya and Kirk Hood, D.J. Sommers, Donica and Mike Hassler, Janelle and Matthew Armstrong, Missy and Daryl Glodowski, Josh and Jenna Enevoldsen, Brandon and Genevieve Bohac, Tamra and Doug Johnston, Mike Sommers, Joey and Jamie Enevoldsen, Jina and Geoff Nemnich, Haley and Mitch O'Hare, Jade and Natalie Enevoldsen, Rick and Xali Sommers, Blake Bohac and special friend Emily Cole, and great-grandchildren Kylie, Sean and Lucas Good, Bailey and Alex Good, Izabella and Leo Balcer, Dylan and Hannah Hood, Charles and Thomas Armstrong, Molly, Emily and Hailey Glodowski, Kinsley Sommers, Paityn Hassler, Hannah, Lily and Macy Johnston, Reese and Adler O'Hare, Creighton, Carver and Colten Nemnich, Delayni Enevoldsen, Brynlee and Jaxson Enevoldsen, Seton and Rosslyn Bohac, sister-in-law Ruth Slama of Potter and many nieces, nephews and extended family members.She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, her parents, 3 brothers, 7 sisters, and great-grandson Matthew Good.
