G. W. "Duddy" Guynes, 91, passed away March 27, 2014 at the VA Medical Center in Jackson. Visitation will be 6pm-8pm Friday and 2pm-3pm Saturday at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Crystal Springs. Services will be 3pm Saturday at Stringer Family Chapel with burial at Hopewell Cemetery. Mr. Guynes was a native of Crystal Springs, formerly lived in Jackson for 45 years, and moved back to Crystal Springs 15 years ago.

He retired from the U. S. Postal Service. He served as a Ranger in the US Army with a platoon of all Mississippi soldiers and was captured and served 19 months as a POW.

Mr. Guynes was a founding member of McDowell Baptist Church and Battlefield Park. He coached baseball for 30 years and loved to hunt and fish. Mr. Guynes was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Dulaney Guynes; son, Ronald "Ronnie" Guynes and wife Sharon of Madison; daughter, Deborah Powell of Crystal Springs; grandchildren, Bobby (Kim) Fowler, Christopher Fowler, Matthew Fowler (Victoria), Gavin Guynes (Lara Beth), and Garrett Guynes (Alexa); and six great grandchildren.
